New Comfort Station Camp 4 - Yosemite National Park

Completed in 2019, the Camp 4 Comfort Station was constructed as part of a larger series of improvements accompanying the campground’s designation on the National Register of Historic Places. The project introduced much-needed restroom and shower facilities to one of Yosemite’s most iconic and historically significant campgrounds—long recognized as the birthplace of modern rock climbing and a central feature of the Yosemite Valley visitor experience.

Designed to harmonize with the surrounding environment, the new structure draws from the same architectural language as Treeline’s earlier work at Mariposa Grove—a combination of timber framing, log infrastructure, cedar siding, and shingle roofing that reflects the park’s rustic building traditions while meeting contemporary performance and accessibility standards.

Treeline Construction was subcontracted to build the new comfort station and self-performed all divisions of work from concrete to finish—encompassing Divisions 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9—as well as quality control, safety, and project management. Our team procured and shaped Douglas fir logs for the exterior patio rafters, posts, and beams, installed the cedar shingle roof, and delivered the project ahead of schedule.

Located at the base of Yosemite’s granite cliffs near Yosemite Falls, Camp 4 occupies one of the park’s most visible and heavily used areas. Treeline’s work on this project reflects our ongoing commitment to building facilities that serve visitors while preserving the natural and cultural integrity of Yosemite Valley.
